RESEARCH:
CHIMERIC READS.
The artificial fusion of two or more different unrelated sequences. Chimeras can result from concatenated cDNA clones or incorrect lane tracking in the sequencing process.

PART ONE.
A comparative review of existing chimera filtration packages. This review mainly focuses on how well current methods work for non-model systems. The results of this review will inform future work in methods development (Part Two).
PART TWO.
The development of a de novo chimera filtration package written for use in python and command line. This package measures the reliability of sites by analyzing the coverage of transcripts (Fig. 3). The primary focus of this work is to enable researchers to filter chimeric reads from non-model systems without the use of a reference genome.
